PSCA equipment vulnerable to theft
Thieves have set their eyes on the equipment of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), an organisation created to help the police in combating street crime.
After stealing valuables from Mughalpura, they stole equipment worth Rs2 million belonging to the authority from the Ghalib Market area. Officials from the authority submitted an application to the Ghalib Market police station for registering a case against the thieves.
According to the officials, unidentified burglars looted valuables, worth more than Rs2 million, belonging to the PSCA near Home Economics College. In the complaint filed in the police station, it was stated that Safe City cameras and traffic signals installed outside the college in Gulberg and a bank on Guru Mangat Road were missing.
The 14 stolen items included DC cables and storage devices.
Ghalib Market police registered a case on the complaint of a traffic supervisor.
Prior to this theft, equipment was stolen from Mughalpura Chowk, where the thieves broke the lock of SCA's traffic signal cabinet and stole goods worth over Rs4 million.
A case was registered after the incident.
An investigation officer said special teams were working to arrest the groups involved in the theft and progress in this regard was expected soon.
