Power distribution companies (DISCOs) have requested the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) to increase the electricity tariff by Rs2.07 per unit under the monthly fuel adjustment charges for July, sources said on Tuesday. A senior Nepra official told The Express Tribune that Nepra would consider the request in a hearing on Saturday. He said that according to DISCOs, the per-unit cost of electricity during July was Rs6.42 while Nepra’s reference price was Rs4.35 per unit for the same period. DISCOs have requested Nepra to increase the price of electricity to end the difference between the reference price and the per-unit cost of electricity.
