The twin city saw no letup in the dengue virus cases as 173 more suspected patients landed in hospitals during the last 24 hours, taking the total toll to 2,460 in Rawalpindi and 2,560 in Islamabad.
Rawalpindi health authorities said that a total of 235 patients including 55 from Islamabad were under treatment in three major hospitals of Rawalpindi, where 404 beds have been allocated for the dengue patients.
They said that 112 patients were admitted to the Benazir Bhutto General Hospital, 64 to the Holy Family and 59 patients were under treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, the dengue virus cases continue to see an upsurge in the federal capital with each passing day.
The Islamabad District Health Officer’s office said that 73 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
The latest data said that of the new cases, 30 dengue cases have been reported from urban areas and 43 from urban areas of the federal capital.
The data said that 13 patients were admitted to the PIMS hospital, five to the Polyclinic and five patients from Islamabad were admitted to the Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi while 47 people were under treatment in private laboratories.
