Alleged robber killed in ‘police encounter’

Police killed a suspected robber during an alleged encounter in Ittehad Town Area and arrested his accomplices with weapons.

According to SHO Baldia Town Police Station Ghulam Rasool Arbab, the police intercepted a suspicious motorcyclist during a routine snap checking.

During verification of the motorcycle registration, the police found out that the said vehicle was stolen from the limits of Iqbal Market police station. When the motorcycle rider was questioned, he confessed his crime and told police that his accomplices were present in the same area.

Following the identification of the accused, the police raided the said place. Meanwhile, one the suspect opened fire, which cause an exchange of fire between the police and suspects. As a result, one of the suspects, identified as Gul Amir, was killed while the other three accomplices Hameedullah, Hanif and Karim were arrested.

Two pistols and a stolen motorcycle were recovered from them. The suspects have admitted to committing several thefts and robberies before the police.

Cell phone shop robbed

Armed robbers looted cash, mobile phones and other valuables from a cellular company franchise located in Gurumandir area.

The CCTV footage of the incident also went viral in which it can be seen that two armed suspects entered the franchise at 11am. They took all the people, present in the franchise, hostage and looted cash, mobile phones and other valuables and escaped.

SHO Jamshed Quarters Chaudhry Azam, however, said that the accused took away two mobile phones and Rs3,000 cash. No customer was present when the incident took place, he said.
