LAHORE:

‘Non-Transparent’, an exhibition of paintings by artist Aisha Siddiqi opened at Alhamra Art Gallery on Monday. The opening ceremony was attended by College of Arts and Design Principal Dr Rahat Naveed Masud, students and art lovers. The inauguration was done by Punjab University Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran.

The works highlight several important aspects of society. Things like double standards and divergence among people have been symbolically dealt with in the work. Speaking about the work, Manahil, an art student said, “The lines in her work are vey interesting as they are not just lines but lines of fate. They might appear normal in first glance but like the lines of fate they have deep meanings. Once you start contemplating them, you realize how thought provoking the work is”.

Mehwish, an artist, said she found the colour scheme in the work very interesting. “The white and black pattern in her work is very meaningful. It shows that good and bad go on side by side and at several points intersect with one another”, she added.

College of Art and Design Principal Prof Dr Rahat Naveed Masud and teachers appreciated the work. The PU Vice-Chancellor took a round of all the pieces and appreciated the work. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mujahid Kamran said the Siddiqui had captured many faces of society in her paintings and expressed many complications in feelings.
