UN official, governor discuss flood situation
Julien Harneis, Resident Coordinator of United Nations (UN) for Pakistan discussed the flood damages with Acting Governor Balochistan, Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali on Wednesday. Julien also discussed the ongoing relief and rehabilitation activities in the flood-affected areas across the province.
Provincial Minister for Food Engineer Zmarak Khan Achakzai, Provincial Advisor Gohram Bugti, Member Provincial Assembly Zainab Shahwani, and Parliamentary Secretary for Minorities Khalil George were also present at the meeting.
Floods wreaked havoc across the country and left millions of people homeless.
Governor Balochistan said that it is desirable that both the provincial government and the opposition party are active in their respective areas regarding relief and rehabilitation activities, and making a transparent process of delivering relief goods to the flood victims at their doorsteps.

“Providing relief to the flood victims is one of our main priorities,” Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali said.
Unusually heavy downpour followed by the flash floods caused large-scale damages and deaths across the province.
It damaged the electricity and gas systems in Balochistan.
Quetta and other parts of the province remained deprived of electricity and gas for around 15 days.
