Neha Kakkar's remake of 'Meine Payal Hai Chankai' makes Falguni Pathak nauseous
Indian singer Neha Kakkar has found herself at the receiving end of criticism ever since the release of her latest music video O Sajna. The song, which was released earlier this week, is a remixed version of singer Falguni Pathak’s iconic 1999 song Maine Payal Hai Chhankai. The viewers have been calling out Kakkar for ruining the innocence of the original track.
Pathak, who rose to fame in the 90s for her melodious voice, too, joined the bandwagon and took a jibe at Kakkar for the latter's rendition of the song. “I got to know about the remixed version three-four days back. The first reaction was not good. I was about to puke, it was like that,” she said. Condemning the song for ruining the beauty of the original track, Pathak added, “The video and picturisation had such innocence but they have ruined it."
Adding how remixes of certain classic tracks are a norm, the Choori Jo Khanki Haathon Mein singer commented, “Remixes are happening but do it in a decent way. If you want to reach out to the younger generation, change the rhythm of the song, but don’t make it cheap. Don’t change the originality of the song. I don’t think I need to do anything; my fans are taking action against the song. I am just sharing the stories. Why should I keep quiet when they are supporting me, how can I stay quiet."
The dandiya queen also expressed her desire to take legal action against the makers of the song ibut said the song’s rights weren’t with her. "I wish I could but the rights are not with me." According to Indian media, Pathak re-shared a story by her fan that asked her to sue Kakkar. Asked if she is planning on taking the legal route, Pathak said, “I wish I could but the rights are not with me.” When further asked if the makers or Kakkar tried to reach out to her after seeing her Instagram stories, the veteran artists responded, “No.”
Kakkar hits back
Now finally Kakkar has addressed the criticism by Pathak and fans of her song. Taking to her Instagram, the O Saki Saki singer shared a post and captioned it, “What I feel.”
She penned a note saying, “Very few people in the world get what I have received in life. That too at such a young age. This kind of fame, love, countless super hit songs, super-duper hit TV shows, world tours, fans from little kids to 80-90 years old people and whatnot! You know why I got all this because of my talent, hard work, passion and positivity. So, today I just wanna thank God and each one of You for giving me what I have today. Thank you! I am the most blessed child of God. Thank you again! Wishing you all a lifetime of happiness.”
The Dilbar singer later shared the post on her Instagram stories followed by two more notes. She further wrote, “And for those who’re so unhappy seeing me or happy and successful, I feel sorry for them. Poor thing. Please keep commenting. I won’t even delete them because I know and everybody knows what Neha Kakkar is."
“If talking in such a manner, saying such bad things about me, abusing me.. makes them feel good and if they think it will ruin my day. Then I’m sorry to inform them that I’m too blessed to have bad days. This God’s child is always happy because God himself is keeping me happy,” Kakkar concluded saying.
