The Jauharabad police claimed on Saturday that they have arrested a motorcycle lifter after identifying him with the help of CCTV camera footage.
The suspect, identified as Ali Muhammad, alias Ghulam Rabbani, has been arrested a number of times in the past from different areas in Sindh. Currently he was out on bail.
He has a history of stealing motorcycles from Karachi, transporting them to Balochistan to sell there, Jauharabad police said.
He revealed during investigation that a Honda 125 motorcycle sells for Rs20,000 to 25,000, while a CD70 sells for Rs10,000 to 15,000. On August 23, he stole a motorcycle from outside a restaurant within the jurisdiction of Jauharabad police station.
The theft was caught on the CCTV cameras installed in the area.
When he was fleeing after stealing the motorcycle, a police patrol deployed at Water Pump Chowrangi caught him red-handed.
