LAHORE:

A writ petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking directions to quarters concerned to put all details regarding registration of FIRs registered against the parliamentarians on the website of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The petition was filed by a citizen named Munir Ahmed, making respondents to the federal government, the Election Commission of Pakistan and others. The petitioner's lawyer implored in the petition that all the relevant details of criminal and civil cases of each lawmaker who take part in elections be uploaded on the website.

The counsel, quoting neighbouring country, added that the Indian Supreme Court had also handed in decision directing to the concerned quarters to put such nature of details on the election commission's website. The lawyer maintained in the petition that a letter has been written in this regard to the Election Commission of Pakistan but their request was declined.

The petitioner requested the court that directions be passed on to the quarters concerned to put aforementioned details on the ECP's website.
