Liam Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy to testify in Argentina's investigation into his tragic death

Argentinian authorities plan to interview Kate Cassidy in their investigation into Liam Payne’s death.

Argentinian authorities are ramping up their investigation into Liam Payne's tragic death and have plans to interview his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy. The former One Direction member died on October 16, 2024, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. Cassidy, who had been with Payne in the days prior, departed Argentina two days before the incident.  

As reported by the New York Post on December 25, authorities have contacted Cassidy to provide a witness statement that might clarify the circumstances surrounding Payne’s death. Officials emphasized that the 25-year-old influencer is not suspected of any wrongdoing.  

However, investigators believe her testimony could offer crucial insights into Payne’s time at the hotel and the events leading to his death.  

Cassidy has expressed her readiness to assist the investigation. According to the New York Post, a close friend shared, "She’s going to help in any way she can. She wants the right people to be brought to justice, and if that takes her answering their questions, she’s going to do it."  

The friend also revealed that Cassidy was deeply impacted by Payne’s battle with substance abuse and his untimely death. 

"She tried for a long time to help him get clean, and is still haunted by what happened. Anyone who provided drugs to Liam should be prosecuted, she says," the friend told the publication.  

Liam Payne, 31, tragically fell from the third-floor balcony of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel. An autopsy report revealed that he had a toxic mix of drugs in his system, including crack cocaine and "pink cocaine," a combination of ketamine and other dangerous substances.  

The investigation has already resulted in charges against three individuals by Argentinian police. The suspects are accused of "abandonment of a person followed by death" and "supply and facilitation of narcotics," according to the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office No. 14.  

One suspect, Rogelio "Roger" Nores, was a close friend of Payne and reportedly spent a significant amount of time with him during his stay in Buenos Aires. Another suspect, Braian Nahuel Paiz, a former waiter at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, is accused of selling drugs to Payne, though he denies the allegations.  

The third individual, identified as a "drug supplier," is alleged to have provided substances to Payne on October 14, two days before his death.
