Amitabh, SRK, Ranveer to reportedly come together for ‘Don 3’
As fans anxiously await the third installment in the Don franchise, a string of speculations surrounding the film’s cast have been making the rounds. This has been the case since rumours regarding ace director Farhan Akhtar working on the script surfaced. “Farhan had an ambitious idea of getting Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan together in the third installment,” Filmfare quoted a source as saying.
Amitabh essayed the lead in the original Don, which was released in 1978. The insider added, “It had a different ending and showed the good-natured Vijay surviving and Don dying, while the second installment in which Shah Rukh played Don showed Vijay dying instead.” The source revealed that following the two films, Farhan has always been gripped with plans of casting Amitabh and Shah Rukh Khan in Don 3.
SRK allegedly even went over to Akhtar’s office and the latter narrated the script to him. However, he was not convinced because of which Akhtar decided to go back to the writing table. A Bollywood Hungama report added, “And that’s not all. As per Farhan’s plot, Don 3 is also supposed to have a cameo by Ranveer Singh. He is being touted to play Don. The idea is that SRK’s Don character would pass the baton to Ranveer’s Don character so that he can take on the iconic role in the future parts.”
The report concluded, “Don 3 is one of the most awaited films of all time and if Shah Rukh Khan is joined by Amitabh Bachchan and Ranveer Singh, then it would have also translated into a record-breaking opening, especially if the film had been released on a holiday.”
