RAWALPINDI:

The PTI and the PML-Z have agreed on an electoral alliance on the Punjab Assembly seat in Chishtian (Bahawalnagar) with Malik Muzaffar being the joint candidate of both parties.

Muzaffar is a candidate for the PTI. The seat had been vacated after the disqualification of PML-N MPA Mian Kashif.

A PML-Z delegation led by party head Ijazul Haq met PTI Chairman Imran Khan at the latter’s residence in Bani Gala.

Provincial assembly candidate Kashif Sana, a candidate from Fort Abbas Nauman Javed, former MPA Chaudhry Murtaza, and Azeem Gohar were included in the PML-Z delegation.

The PTI delegation comprised the party’s chief whip Aamir Dogar, former information minister Fawad Chaudhry, PTI South Punjab President Aon Buppi, and Sardar Sami.

Imran apprised the PML-Z delegation about his Lahore rally and the upcoming visit to Sindh.

Haq said the PML-Z would back the PTI and that their party’s Kashif Sana would be the covering candidate in the Chishtian constituency.

Taking a dig at the ruling PML-N government, Haq noted that the petroleum prices in the international market were coming down while the incumbent regime was increasing them.

He said the federal government was unable to provide relief to the people because they had brought the economy on the “verge of collapse”.

The PML-Z called for “early and transparent elections” saying otherwise the political and economic situation would further “worsen”.
