GUJRANWALA:

The killers of the police constable and four other people in incidents of target killing could not be traced yet. Police are still unable to determine the motives behind the murders.

On February 2022, the Deputy Information Secretary of PTI, Jawad Malik, was returning home after work from a factory in Thana Cantt. area when he was stopped by unknown motorcyclists near Iqbal Town who opened fire on him. He died on the spot.

The police registered a case, but after seven months they could not arrest his killers.

At that time there were PTI governments in the Centre and in Punjab. The PTI leaders had also announced a reward of Rs500,000 for the person who had any information about the killers, but so far no success has been achieved.

In the second case, which took place two months later, a PML-N councilor, Raja Nasir, was killed in Kashmir Colony when he was sitting in his office. Then, too, two unknown motorcycle-riding suspects came and broke the glass of the office and opened fire, killing Raja Nasir.

The police also got the CCTV footage, but the accused of this murder are still at large.

The third incident took place on Sialkot Road in Satellite Town Police Station area. Constable Rana Amjad was shot dead in broad daylight by unknown persons in front of the DC office.

The police registered a case against them. The CPO had ordered that the killers of the constable be arrested. He had had enmity with some people, but still the mystery of the murder has not been solved.

The fourth murder took place near Gujjar Chowk area of Civil Lines Police Station. Dr Yunus was coming out after seeing patients at his clinic when unknown motorcyclists shot him dead. His killers are also still roaming free.

The fifth murder took place a month ago in the People's Colony Police Station area when a young man Shafaqat was riding a motorcycle at night when he was shot in the head by unidentified motorcyclists.

All these five victims were killed in incidents of target killing, and according to the police, these were the doings of some hired killers.

None of the victims, except the constable, had enmity with anyone.

In this regard, the police of the relevant stations said that the homicide units were working on the cases, but no clues had been found yet.

Some suspects and history-sheeters were interrogated, but no evidence was found about the killers yet.
