Rs2.7b set aside for Kamonki uplift

The Punjab government has initiated historic development schemes worth Rs2.70 billion in Kamonki, a neighbouring of Lahore on Grand Trunk Road to revamp the basic infrastructure and amenities.

The authorities have also announced to fill 22,000 vacant posts in the Local Government Department.

Punjab Minister for Local Government and Community Development (LGCD) Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed, on Saturday, laid the foundation stone of development projects under the Punjab Cities Program (PCP) in Kamonki.

Later, speaking to the media, he highlighted that these projects include water supply, sewerage, roads, street lights, renovation of parks and solid waste management.

The minister disclosed that the LGCD had received the support of the World Bank for the Punjab Cities Program which had been started in 16 tehsils of Punjab.

He said that new machinery had been provided for the cleaning of Kamonki city.
