Will ‘Brahmastra’ part 2 star Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh in lead roles? Fans think so

Social media users think Aamir, Shah Rukh, Alia, Ranbir, and the ‘83' couple comprise the fantasy trilogy’s main cast

It hasn’t even been a week since the much-anticipated Ayan Mukerji’s film Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva was released in theatres and fans are already waiting for the second part.

With the first one starring the husband-wife duo Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, some are speculating whether the next instalment will retain the initial cast or will feature star couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.

Breaking the silence over fan speculations about the cast of the second film of the planned fantasy  trilogy, film critic and author Anupama Chopra, on Film Companion, said “I hope that the learnings of this film (Brahmastra: Part One- Shiva) enable them (the makers) to make a kickass part two with of course Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.”

After Chopra revealed his opinion, the host of the chat show asked her if the news is confirmed or not. While she didn’t say anything explicitly, she responded by blinking her eyes in a manner that confirmed the development and that was enough for fans to get excited already!

Earlier this week, Mukerji, the director of Brahmastra, told The Times of India that the makers will “plan the shooting of the second and third parts”. He added that “the trilogy will tell the same story, but that each film would introduce new characters and add various perspectives to the overall narrative.”

Fans also brought back an old picture shared by co-producer of Brahmastra, Karan Johar, on Instagram. The picture shows see Bollywood bigwigs Aamir Khan, Bhatt, Kapoor, Johar, Padukone, Singh and Shah Rukh Khan in one frame.

Looking back at what earlier looked like a reunion, fans are now wondering if everyone in the picture actually comprises the star cast of the second edition of Brahmastra. Well, we’ll just have to wait to see!

Brahmastra, produced by Dharma Productions was released in theatres worldwide on Sept 9, 2022. Apart from Bhatt and Kapoor, it sees Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy in pivotal roles. The film also has a cameo of Shah Rukh Khan.
