The low-pressure system that crept into Sindh from Indian Gujrat dumped more rain on the port city on Tuesday causing urban flooding in many areas besides hours-long traffic jams.
Following a bright and sunny morning, dark clouds emerged from the eastern horizon brining medium to heavy falls across the city along with powerful gales.
Highest precipitation was recorded at 34.6mm in Korangi.
As per Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) the city's weather is likely to stay hot and humid during the next three days. The suburbs are likely to see some light rainfall on Wednesday, whereas, heavy to medium falls are expected in different districts of Sindh.
"The low pressure over Indian Gujrat has merged with the low pressure over central India," said Sardar Sarfaraz, Chief Meteorologist, Karachi.
On Tuesday, for the second consecutive day the city witnessed a heavy downpour due to Sakhi Hasan, North Nazimabad, Federal B Area, Liaquatabad, Gulzar Hijri, Scheme 33, Yasinabad, Bahadurabad, Shahrae Faisal, Tariq Road, PECHS, Mahmoodabad, Baloch Colony, Landhi, Korangi and Old City areas with medium and heavy rains.
As per PMD data the highest rainfall was recorded in Korangi at 34.6 mm. The rain recorded in other parts of the city is Quaidabad 28.5 mm, DHA 24 mm, University Road, Orangi 20 mm, Kemari 16.2 mm, Jinnah Terminal 10.6 mm, Old Airport 9.2 mm, PAF Base Masroor 9 mm, PAF Base Faisal 8 mm while the lowest rainfall was 2.2 mm in Nazimabad.
