LAHORE:

The investigation into the allotment of a 10-acre industrial plot to Farhat Shehzadi in the Faisalabad Special Economic Zone has taken a new turn, as the joint investigation team (JIT) of the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab, while finding the accused to be innocent, has recommended sending it over to the Special Economic Zone Authority

According to the final report of the JIT, Farhat did not cause any damage to the government treasury and there was no negligence on the part of any government official.

The investigation team, therefore, recommended that the SEC Authority conduct a departmental inquiry if there is any irregularity in the land purchase.

Reportedly, the order to dismiss the case was issued by the additional chief secretary of the home department after ACE’s former director general Rai Manzoor Nasir declared Farhat innocent in the case.

It is worth mentioning here that the ACE had registered a case of illegal allotment of an industrial plot to the close aide of former first lady Bushra Bibi. They accused her of doing it by forming a company in her and her mother’s name.
