Shaan Shahid delays ‘Zarrar’ release date again, this time due to Pakistan floods

Action-thriller starring Kiran Malik and Nayyer Ejaz was scheduled to release on Sep 23

Shaan Shahid announced extending his upcoming action thriller Zarrar’s release date by a week with respect to the recent floods in Pakistan. Based on true events, the spy film was due for launch on September 23 but will now be released on September 29 instead.

On Sunday, the Waar actor took to Twitter to share the news with closeups from Zarrar’s poster that read, “Rise of the invisible” alongside Shahid’s sweaty anger-ridden face. “Zarrar's release date changed due to the recent floods. The new date is September 29. I thank all my fans for their continued support,” read his tweet.

Written and directed by Shahid himself, the film sees him headlining the action-thriller as well. Apart from the Arth actor, Zarrar stars Kiran Malik, Nayyer Ejaz, Nadeem Baig and Shafqat Cheema in supporting roles.

The teaser of the video, released earlier this year, saw a bloodied Shaan clinching his fists implying readiness to battle. As the line "Men die, wars don't die" flashed on the screen, a markhor was featured flickering, perhaps as a nod to Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency, around which the plot is said to revolve.

Shahid, a Lollywood veteran, had previously revealed that the theme is around some external security threats to the country which are ignored by the mainstream media and gone on to deem it as a spy thriller unlike previous action films Waar and Yalghar
