Tarar slams PTI over rallies amid floods

Criticises CM for failing to visit flooded areas, express solidarity with distressed people

LAHORE:

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Attaullah Tarar criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday for staging political gatherings, while one-third of the country was affected by severe floods.

Addressing a press conference, he said the Punjab government was not interested in solving problems of the flood victims and alleged that the chief minister did not visit affected areas to express solidarity with the distressed people. He appealed to all political parties to avoid pursuing politics over floods and to join hands for the relief and rehabilitation of flood victims.

The federal government and the departments concerned were fully engaged in relief activities, Tarar declared, adding that the floods had wreaked havoc across the country, as Pakistan was among the countries worst hit by climate change. He thanked friendly nations for extending support to Pakistan, including the UAE, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and others.

Tarar said that agreements signed by the erstwhile PTI government were responsible for inflation in the country.
