ISLAMABAD:

Representatives of Markazi Tanzeem-e-Tajiraan Pakistan visited the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and met with its Chairman Asim Ahmed. Twenty-one members of the traders’ association attended the meeting, who highlighted their taxation concerns. The government has withdrawn the fixed tax on retailers through a recently promulgated ordinance, it was pointed out in the meeting. It was decided that any new tax on retailers would be planned and implemented in consultation with the traders. FBR chief invited proposals on the features of a new proposed tax scheme that would facilitate the traders in filing income tax returns as well as ensure revenue flow for the country. The traders, while welcoming the FBR’s initiative of active consultation with them, put forth various suggestions on the matter.
