No respite in dengue cases

Officials say over 100 patients being treated in various Pindi hospitals at present

RAWALPINDI:

The dengue outbreak seems to be out of control as the number of dengue patients being treated at the hospitals has reached over 100.

With the advent of monsoon, the district administration had started the anti-dengue campaign under which they had started filing cases against violators of dengue SOPs.

According to the data obtained from the district administration, so far the cases registered against the citizens have exceeded 1,100. In the last 24 hours, 64 more cases have been filed against the citizens and 9 locations have been sealed due to violations of SOPs.

One of the traders, who had a case filed against him on the condition of anonymity, said that traders are already fed up with rising taxation and several other issues.

Now, they also have to deal with these cases which are causing an adverse impact on the business community.

He further said that the district administration of Rawalpindi has failed to control the spread of dengue. Filing cases against citizens is not only unfair but it also does not contribute to stopping the spread of dengue in any way.

If the Rawalpindi administration had taken timely action, the circumstances would have been under control by now.

The administration should not punish citizens for its own failures therefore we demand the Punjab government to take notice of this illegal action.
