Pushing the envelope: Nawazuddin Siddiqui stuns fans in first look of 'Haddi'

A motion poster posted on Instagram yesterday shows the actor transformed in drag for his character

Director Akshat Ajay Sharma's upcoming film Haddi showcases seasoned actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a way fans have never seen before. A first look into the film, a motion poster that was posted on Instagram yesterday, shows the Sacred Games star transformed in drag for his character.

The motion poster, set in what appears to be an abandoned warehouse, shows the Heropanti 2 actor flourishing in a beautiful metallic silver gown, bold jewellery, and a blood-stained weapon – the perfect setting for any revenge drama.

According to a report by Zoom, Siddiqui intended to step out of the box through this role. "I have portrayed different interesting characters, but Haddi is going to be a unique and special one since I will be sporting a never-seen-before look, and it will also help me to push the envelope as an actor," the actor commented.

Talking about the film, the director Sharma said in a statement, "It's going to be a double whammy, as Haddi gives me the opportunity to collaborate with Nawazuddin. Our team hopes the motion poster piques the audience's interest as we are excited to dive deep into a new world. Can't wait to start filming".

Siddiqui's first look has stunned fans, with many saying the actor looks unrecognisable after the drastic transformation. In a hilarious turn of events, many even pointed out the likeness between the actor's transformation and The Kapil Sharma Show's Archana Puran Singhactor. Singhactor took the comparisons in stride and called it "a huge compliment to be compared to Nawaz in any way possible," as reported by Hindustan Times.

Siddiqui, who gained widespread praise for embodying Saadat Hasan Manto in the 2018 Manto and for his role in Netflix's Sacred Games, is all set to begin filming Haddi. The film is scheduled to be released in 2023.
