Fashion institute student ‘commits suicide’

A private university student allegedly committed suicide by tying a noose around his neck.

Police officials quoting family sources said Hussain Zohair, 22, committed suicide due to financial issues.

Hussain lived with his family at an apartment in the Lunda Bazar area near Lighthouse market.

Police said that responding to a distress call, they came to an apartment on the third floor of a building in the Jutay Wali Gali in the remits of the Risala Police Station.

Police found Hussain's body hanging from a hook in the ceiling with a noose around the neck. They shifted the body to Civil Hospital by Chippa ambulance for legal formalities.

According to the police, Hussain belonged to the Bohri community. He was the only brother of two sisters. His father used to drive a rickshaw and also worked as a part-time cook in his community. Hussain was studying at the Asian Institute of Fashion Designing in Iqra University and sold various items online part-time.

Depression is said to be the cause of suicide, police officials said quoting preliminary investigations. The deceased suffered economic distress due to a lack of income these days. Police are investigating the incident.
