JHELUM:

The alleged negligence of a lady doctor in the Dina tehsil of District Jhelum resulted in the thumb of a newborn being severed.

The incident caused an uproar against the negligent lady doctor, with the parents and relatives of the child protesting and filing a complaint in the Dina police station.

It has been learnt that the unfortunate occurence happened in a private hospital, where the carelessness of the doctor in question led to a newborn's thumb being cut off during delivery.

CEO Health Dr Mian Mazhar Hayat has called for a report, which prompted the formation of a three-member investigation team to probe into the incident.

The team, comprising Dr Hashim, Dr Sarfaraz and Dr Jawad, has been tasked with presenting its report within three days.

However, due to a nationwide campaign of the administration of polio drops to children 5 years and under, the probe will take place once the anti-polio drive is wrapped up.

Additionally, the parents of the injured child have filed an application in the Dina police station, in which the lady doctor and staff of the private hospital have been held responsible.
