MULTAN:

A large group of mourners took out several rallies to mark the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA) on Monday.

According to eyewitnesses, security remained tight throughout the day and the main procession was taken out from Imambargah Kashana Haider.

The procession moved through its set routes and reached Cantt in the morning. It ended at Kashana Shabbir Lal Kurti Cantt at 4 pm, when a second main procession was taken out from Imambargah Mohallah Nasirabad Jhuk. The Jhuk procession culminated at Imambargah Lal Shah.

Other processions were taken out from Imambargah Hussainabad Daulat Gate, Suraj Miani, Sutri Wat, Imambargah Dadu Mohalla and other smaller localities. Security remained tight and all markets along the procession routes remained closed. “All the roads leading towards the procession routes were also closed and there were dozens of check posts,” said an eyewitness Saleem Muhammad Jaan.

All participants were frisked before entering the majalis.
