FAISALABAD:

Police have arrested three people who are accused of burning a rickshaw driver alive.

According to the police report, Haji Mohammad Rafiq, a resident of Raza Abad, stated in the case which he had registered with the Ghulam Mohammadabad Police Station that his son, Abdul Jabbar, had been returning home after work in his rickshaw. His son was also with him.

On his way home, Abdul Jabbar stopped at an LPG refilling station ad Adam Chowk where he had his rickshaw’s cylinder filled with gas. The LPG refilling station was owned by accused Shahid Hussain.

The accused had allegedly filled less quantity of gas in the cylinder, but charged him more money.

“My son Abdul Jabbar and grandson Aman questioned the accused on account of his cheating with them. There was an exchange of hot words between them,” the complainant said.

“After that accused Shahid Hussain, along with Abid Hussain and Abdullah, threw a bottle full of oil at my son and set him on fire,” said Haji Mohammad Rafiq.

He said that his son sustained serious burn injuries. He was shifted to the hospital where he died.

On the instructions of the CPO, Umar Saeed Malik, police conducted raids at various places and arrested Shahid Hussain and two other accused, registered a case against them and put them behind bars.
