‘Foolproof security’ in place for NA-245 by-poll

Odho says over 2,600 police personnel deployed at 110 polling stations

KARACHI:

The Karachi Police Chief, Javed Alam Odho has said that more than 2,600 police officers have been deployed at 110 polling stations as security measures during the by-elections in NA-245 Constituency.

He said that no one will be allowed to take the law into their hands during the by-election. Doing so, legal action will be taken without discrimination.

He said that during the by-elections, leaders or officials of any political party can immediately contact the police if they have any complaints.

During a media briefing at the office of DIG east Javed Alam Odho said that security of sensitive areas and all polling stations has been made fool-proof and effective. According to the plan, the police will ensure patrolling in polling and adjacent areas, keeping a close watch on the suspects.

A monitoring cell has also been established in Karachi Police Office (KPO).

Four platoons of police will also be on alert in case of any possible abnormal situation. Along with this, Anti-Riot Force and Rapid Response Force (RRF) and other police units will also be on standby.

Javed Alam Odho said that on the occasion of the by-election, the implementation of the SOPs will be ensured and the entry of security guards and armed persons in and around the polling stations will be prohibited.
