Prime suspect in Layyah porn, bestiality case arrested
Police made a breakthrough in the Layyah gang-rape and animal pornography case when they arrested suspected gang leader Rana Wasim alias Shahzeb. The investigation is underway with a 4-member police team led by DSP Saddar Circle Chobara.
The 4-member team traced the accused, with the help of a locator and arrested them from district Nowshera, KPK, with the assistance of Counter Terrorism Squad (CTD).
Authorities are expected to produce the suspects before the court on Friday.
Four accused in the case have already been arrested, identified as Abrar alias Babar, Tajjmul Hussain, Muhammad Salim and Akhlaq Ahmed. They are currently on remand and will be produced again before the court on Friday.
The police, by seeking the remand of the prime accused from the court, will complete the investigation process. Sources state that the investigation into the scandal is nearing its logical conclusion.
The JIT, through a press conference, is expected to brief the media personnel after the prime accused is interrogated.
The police have closed the gates of City Police station and restricted entry, due to the presence of the main accused in the police station, while the elite force has also been deployed at the gate.
The accused also confessed to making the animal porn video himself and being Saima Bibi's husband.
On August 13, a 9-member JIT was formed to investigate the case of gang-rape and animal pornography in Layyah and was ordered to submit a report in seven days. The FIA also investigated the matter.
Police arrived at the scene and sent samples from the victim to the forensic lab for DNA testing. The gang-rape victim alleged that three accused, identified as Shaukat, Waseem Alvi and Abrar Asad and allegedly kidnapped her with the connivance of a woman named Sana on July 3.
They took her to Azam Chowk and allegedly gang-raped her for five days. After that, the accused filmed her being raped by a dog and uploaded the video to foreign pornographic websites.
The victim added that pornography gangs call their victims by posing as friends, before abducting, gang-raping and blackmailing them by making videos. These gangs earn money by uploading the videos, involving rape by trained dogs, on websites in foreign countries.
However, police investigators suspected that a girl claiming to be a gang-rape victim was actually linked to a gang involved in pornography using animals.
The local police arrested three nominated suspects in the case and expanded the scope of the investigation.
