895 dead centenarians still alive on voter lists of five districts

The Election Commission of Pakistan re-verified elderly voters aged 100 years and above in Sindh, after which 221 voters in Larkana, 265 in Shikarpur, 122 in Jamshoro, 123 voters in District South Karachi and 164 voters in Jacobabad have been confirmed to have died.

The Election Commission of Pakistan had ordered its Sindh headquarters to re-verify 20,350 voters between the ages of 100 to 142.

So far, ECP has scrutinized data of five districts of the province, sources said, adding that during the verification process of 432 elderly voters in Larkana, 211 voters were alive while 221 people had died, including 143 female and 78 male voters.

Similarly, in Shikarpur, 265 people had died out of 470 voters while 205 voters were cleared. Among the deceased are 190 female and 75 male voters.

In Jamshoro, 122 people, including 69 female and 53 male voters, had died from the total 260 scrutinized, while 138 voters were confirmed alive.

In South Karachi, the number of elderly voters for verification was 1611, out of which 1488 were alive while 123 people died, including 53 female and 70 male voters.

Likewise, 354 voters were reconfirmed in Jacobabad, from which 164 people, including 93 female and 71 male voters, had died while 190 voters were alive.

A total of 3127 voters were re-verified in five districts, in which the number of deceased voters is 895, and the number of living voters is 2232.

The reason for re-examining voter data is to make the electoral rolls error-free. For this reason, voters above 100 years of age were re-verified.
