Shootout at Shaitan Chowk leaves Rangers official injured
An official of the Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, was injured in an exchange of fire with suspects in a crime infested area of Old Golimar locally dubbed as Shaitan Chowk.
Pak Colony police station SHO Inspector Ashfaq Ahmed said that Rangers had received intelligence information that there were criminal elements hiding in quarter near the Shaitan Chowk.
Subsequently, a contingent of Rangers raided the location and directed the suspects to throw down their weapons and come out to surrender before the law.
However, the suspects opened fire and hit Rangers official Asif in the leg. The Rangers retaliated with full force, forcing the suspects to surrender. It turned out that the suspects had a clout in the area and many people came out to protest in their favour. However, a large detachment of police arrived on the scene and calmly dispersed the demonstrators.
