Army presents 21-gun salute

Changing of guards held at the Mazar-e-Iqbal

LAHORE:

The Pakistan Independence Day celebrations began in the provincial capital with a 21-gun salute by the Pakistan Army at the Ayub Stadium in Cantt while a solemn ceremony of the changing of guards was also held at the mausoleum of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

The Pakistan Army troops took over the duties of the honorary guards from the Pakistan Rangers.

As the 21-gun salute was presented by the Pakistan Army at the Ayub Stadium in Cantt, the city’s atmosphere was echoed with the slogans of “Allah-o-Akbar” and “Pakistan Zindabad” by the soldiers.

A solemn ceremony of the changing of guards was held at the mausoleum of the Shair-e-Mashriq, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

Major-General Muhammad Shehbaz Khan, the chief guest at the ceremony, laid a wreath at the Mazar-e-Iqbal, offered Fateha, inspected the parade and recorded his comments in the visitor’s book at the mausoleum.

The Pakistan Army’s band also played beautiful tunes during the ceremony.

Meanwhile, strict security arrangements were made in the provincial capital on the occasion of the guard’s changing ceremony at the Mazar-e-Iqbal.
