31 injured by aerial firing
At least 31 people were injured due to aerial firing on the eve of Independence Day.
Most of the injured were initially shifted to private hospitals. After being provided with first aid, they were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) and Dr Ruth KM Pfau Civil Hospital for the police surgeon's report necessary for legal formalities.
On the occasion of Independence Day, at midnight on Saturday, the city echoed with the sounds of gunfire. The police, which had earlier claimed to make the town a cradle of peace, miserably failed to stop the crime and shooting incidents across the city.
A woman was injured in aerial firing near Rahat Malik Shop, Phase-II of DHA, and was shifted to the JPMC for medical assistance. The injured was identified as Shazia, 35.
Among other injured include Imdad, 40, who was hit by a stray bullet in Mahmoodabad within the limits of Tipu Sultan police station. In Nazimabad, Ayaz Ahmed, 35, was hit by stray bullets, while, Afhsan got injured in Chakiwara, Ayesha, 15 at Mola Madad Bus Stop in the Chakiwara area of Lyari and Hidayat, 48, in Sher shah.
A child and a boy were injured in aerial firing near Mustafa Mosque, Shah Faisal Colony No. 3, Sector 9/A1. The injured were shifted to the JPMC.
