Two soldiers martyred in Harnai terror attack

Naik Atif, Sepoy Qayyum embrace martyrdom; wreath laid at Kargil War hero's mausoleum

Two soldiers of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom on the eve of the country’s 75th Independence Day during an exchange of fire with terrorists in Khost, near Harnai, in Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.

According to the media wing of the military, the terrorists attacked the post of security forces in Khost. During an exchange of fire two youths were martyred. The ISPR added that the security forces repulsed the assault. Later they chased the terrorists and besieged them in the mountains.

There was another exchange of fire with the terrorists, the ISPR said. During the clash, it added, two soldiers of the Pakistan Army, Naik Atif and Sepoy Qayyum, were martyred. Major Umar was injured while bravely fighting the terrorists, it said.

The ISPR statement further said, "on the eve of 75th Independence Day of Pakistan, the security forces, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging Balochistan's peace, stability and progress."

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack on the check post of security forces on Saturday night and expressed grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of Naik Atif and Sepoy Qayyum, who failed the nefarious designs of the terrorists

In a message, the prime minister prayed to Almighty Allah to elevate the ranks of the martyrs in paradise and give courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss. He also prayed for the early recovery of Major Umar.
Shehbaz said that the Pakistani nation would never forget the sacrifices of the martyrs.
