Labourer dies as building wall collapses

ISLAMABAD:

A labourer died while two others suffered serious injuries when a wall of an under-construction building fell at Pirwadhai bus stand on Saturday.

Soon after receiving information about the incident, the rescue teams reached the spot, recovered the injured under the debris and then shifted them to a nearby hospital.

Rescue 1122 spokesman said a wall suddenly collapsed because of the substandard materials used in the construction of the building.

The deceased labourer was identified as 60-year-old Syed Gul. The body was shifted to the Holy Family Hospital for completing medico-legal formalities.

Police registered a case and started an investigation. According to the police, they have informed the heirs of the deceased labourer, and the body will be handed over to them soon. They added that a case will be registered against the building's owner if the allegations of using substandard materials were proven.

Meanwhile, police arrested two members of a gang involved in robbery and motorcycle theft and recovered eight stolen motorcycles, Rs18,000 and weapons used in the crime.
