Over 50 held during citywide combing operations

Joint action by police and Rangers meant to ensure peace on August 14

KARACHI:

More than 50 suspects were taken into custody during combing operations jointly conducted by the police and Rangers in different areas of the city late on Friday.

During the operations, the law enforcers combed hotels, suspicious areas and sensitive places of the city. All SDPOs, SHOs, police officials and Rangers took part in the operations.

Criminal records of more than 300 people were checked during the operations. Of them, more than 50 were detained and transferred to police stations for questioning. They will be released after record verification.

The operations were launched to ensure peace and order on the occasion of 75th Independence Day of Pakistan which is being celebrated today (Sunday).

Meanwhile, police also conducted a search operation in Bugti Goth within the limits of Bin Qasim Town.

Police cordoned off the Goth before carrying out a door to door search. Five suspects were detained and drugs recovered from their possession.

An operation was also conducted in Malir City and carried out door to door search and checked identity and other documents of suspicious residents.

According to SSP Malir Irfan Bahadur, the operation was conducted to avert any untoward incident during the Independence Day celebrations on August 14.
