ISLAMABAD:

A seminar titled “Independence from tobacco” was organised by Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) to celebrate International Youth Day 2022 on Friday.

The speakers highlighted the importance of banning novel tobacco products and termed them as the biggest existential threat to younger generations. Moreover, they believe that the tobacco industry is trying to find new ways to manipulate our youth.

Dr Shazia Sobia Aslam Soomro, Federal Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (NHSR&C) has said that 61 million of our total population is the youth and we will not let any industry deliberately put our youth’s future in jeopardy.

She appreciated SPARC for educating the youth on malicious practices and harmful products and for giving them a platform to share their stories with policymakers.
