LAHORE:

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed an outlet of a famous Falooda chain in Iqbal Town on Wednesday over different alleged violations of the provincial food regulations.

PFA Director General Shoaib Khan Jadoon said the authority’s food safety team took action against the production unit of the Falooda shop for “not adhering to food regulations, poor cleanliness and an abundance of insects, like flies and cockroaches, in the kitchen area”.

The raiding team allegedly also witnessed use of dirty vessels, improper drainage system, stagnant water and cobwebs in the production area. In addition, workers of the food manufacturing facility did not have medical and training certificates, he added.

The PFA DG said the inferior quality of Falooda was to be supplied to all other branches of the shop across the provincial capital.

The use of substandard and contaminated food causes health problems for consumers.

The provincial food regulatory body would close all those food businesses involved in the preparation of unhygienic and adulterated food, he warned and added that the authority had been carrying out continuous operations to ensure provision of quality food across the province. It is the utmost priority of the authority to ensure strict implementation of the food laws across the province.
