Govt officials seize plot despite court stay
Government officials forcibly seized a private property worth billions of rupees during the Ashura holidays despite a stay order from the court.
According to details, a Plot No B-6, Survey No 139, spread over four acres, and located in Scheme 33 within the limits of Super Highway Police Station was purchased from a company, Big Bird Poultry.
Once a suburban area, the four-acre plot previously owned by a poultry magnet is now nestled between mushrooming housing socities in KDA Scehme 33.
The previous owner, a seasoned businessman and former chairman of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, had sensed the foul intentions of a ‘powerful system’ brewing up and therefore, sold the estate at a decent price and walked away, sources in the real estate agencies confirmed.
But officials of Sindh Board of Revenue, accompanied by a team of the Anti-Encroachment Department, have been threatening the new owners to vacate the land, according to sources.
The owners filed a petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) in which the Revenue Board, Deputy Commissioner, and police were made respondents. The SHC issued a restraining order and summoned all the parties on August 11.
Sources said that government officials trespassed on the property on night of August 6 in violation of the court orders. They appeared to have ulterior motives as they took the action during Ashura public holidays to ensure no legal action could be taken. Sources further claimed that the officials seized goods worth millions of rupees stocked at the plot. Earlier on the court orders, an official had visited the plot and submitted all details.
