Govt yet to fulfil promises: MQM-P
Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) reiterated its concerns over the lack of implementation of the promises the provincial and federal governments made with the party to solicit its support for ousting the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.
A meeting of the Coordination Committee of MQM-P held at its Bahadurabad Markaz reviewed the current political situation of the country and the implementation of the agreements with the current government.
MQM-P Coordination Committee Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui chaired the meeting, which also discussed the worrisome situation in the urban areas of Sindh, especially in Karachi, after the recent rains. The members of the coordination committee of MQM-P reviewed the progress on the implementation of the agreements with the present coalition government at the federal and provincial levels. They expressed their concern over the delay.
The members of the coordination committee termed the attitude of the provincial government as irresponsible regarding the agreement reaching the provincial level. The members said that the top leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has not prepared the Local Government Act of Sindh under the provisions of Article 140A as per the decision of the Supreme Court.
It could not be implemented till now due to the non-serious behaviour in the negotiations several times in more than three months, said the committee.
The coordination committee further said that in contrast to the decision of the Supreme Court, the delimitation of the constituencies in Sindh was done by the provincial government instead of the Election Commission, while the results showed the worst bias and rigging in the delimitations.
According to the members of the coordination committee, despite the agreement, the provincial government of Sindh is deliberately using delaying tactics.
