Call for promoting Sufism
Renowned Urdu writer Dr Safeer Akhter has called for the promotion of Sufism. He said that Maulana Rumi has a deep influence on our thoughts and ideas. Rumi's 'masnavi' was spread all over the world in his life and it has been translated into many languages.
He spoke at a seminar titled 'Iqbal and Maulana Romi' organised by the Iqbal Chair of Tasawwuf and Muslim Thought of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU).
Dr Akhter said that AIOU has taken the initiative to promote the teachings and philosophy of Sufis which is appreciable. He hailed AIOU VC Dr Ziaul Qayyum for providing scholars with a platform for research on Sufism. Dr Sahir spoke on the life, services, spiritual relationship, and intellectual connections between Allama Iqbal and Maulana Rumi.
