Hearing of ‘incitement’ plea against Imran today

The division bench of the Supreme Court (SC) has fixed for hearing on Thursday the petition seeking against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including Chairman Imran Khan, for “inciting the people against the country's institutions”.
The petition will be heard by a two-member bench comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Yahya Khan Afridi.
The petition was filed by Advocative Qausain Faisal.
The petitioner requested the apex court to stop the former prime minister from giving statements against institutions.
He also requested the top court to form a commission to take action against the leaders of the former ruling party.
The federation of Pakistan has been made respondent in the case through the secretary of the Ministry of Interior and others.
It is worth mentioning here that following his ouster through a vote of no-confidence that was made successful with the support of allies that jumped ship, Imran has repeatedly raised questions over the role of institutions.
Not only has he spoken against institutions that supposedly went “neutral” during the phase of an alleged foreign conspiracy, but he has also consistently bashed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja for siding with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) – the ruling alliance of erstwhile opposition parties.
