Lady councillor’s alleged killer arrested
Police on Monday arrested the alleged killer of a lady councillor of neighbourhood council No 9, Haripur.
According to police, the accused, Hamza, had fled after killing lady councillor Rabia Bibi, 55, and critically injuring her 15-year-old son Fahad.
At a press conference, the district police officer said that the accused involved in the murder of the lady councillor has been arrested within 24 hours after the murder.
Last night, the accused stabbed Rabia Bibi to death and injured her son during a scuffle in Mohalla Afzalabad, near Central Jail Haripur. The accused was the neighbour of the lady councillor and wanted her to intervene to help him bring back his estranged wife. When the lad councillor refused to help him, he attacked her and stabbed her.
Rescue 1122 shifted them to the trauma centre, Haripur where the woman councillor was pronounced dead on arrival while her injured son was later shifted to Abbottabad for treatment.
The accused's house was set to fire by an angry mob after the incident. The firefighters' team of Rescue 1122 rushed to the spot and contained the fire.
