KARACHI:

Police on Monday booked an apartment owner and six young men after a youth plunged to his death from the 17th floor of an upscale residential complex in the Do-Darya area of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in the early hours of Sunday.

The deceased, Adil Masood, 28, had recently completed his Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA). Masood, a resident of Gulitan-e-Jauhar, and his friends had booked an apartment for a day, which itself is against the law, and were consuming narcotics in the balcony when, according to a suspect, "Masood went too high and took a flight."

The youth came crashing down hundreds of feet below and died instantly. The victim's heirs filed an FIR for murder at the Sahil police station where the seven suspects are under arrest.

Masood lived alone. His father had passed away, his mother is abroad, and his sister lives in Lahore. She came to Karachi with the first flight on hearing about her brother's death.

Sahil police station officials said that Masood's friends, in their statements, said they were all taking drugs and did not know when Adil fell from the balcony.

As soon as the incident was reported, Adil's sister reached Karachi.

The police have registered a case against him and started further investigation. Adil's sister has suspected his friends of the murder. Police say that the actual cause of death will be determined only after the post-mortem.
