Peshawar to deploy 11,500 cops for Muharram security

Steps have been taken to ensure smooth and uninterrupted mourning processions to imambargahs

Police has finalised security plan for Muharram in Peshawar district under which more than 11,500 policemen would deployed in the district SSP Operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi told reporters on Sunday that steps had been taken by police with the help of other stakeholders to ensure a peaceful Muharram across K-P.

He added that in Peshawar more than 11,500 policemen would perform security duty. He said a total of 62 Imambargahs and all mosques in the city had been provided with fool-proof security. He said a total of 116 large and small processions would be brought out for which adequate measures of security had been taken.

Steps have been taken to ensure smooth and uninterrupted mourning processions to imambargahs, the SSP Operations said. “All imambargahs, important and sensitive places including procession routes are to be monitored through CCTV cameras,” he said.
