Three killed in two road accidents
At least three people including a 70-year-old woman were killed in two different road accidents in Rawalpindi on Sunday.
In the first incident, two people including a 70-year- old woman were killed near Thalian Interchange on the motorway after their vehicle fell into a deep ravine.
According to officials, the van carrying four men, six women, and five children of a family were on the way from Lahore when suddenly its tyres burst and it veered off the road and fell into the ravine after hitting the edge of the road.
Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi staff rushed to the spot and pulled out the injured from the van and after giving first aid shifted them to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences where 70-year-old Sakina Bibi and 19-year- old Bilal Rehman died of serious injuries.
The rest of the injured ad- mitted to the hospital were stated to be out of danger.
Police officials said that the next of kin of the deceased said that they intended no legal proceedings.
In the second incident, a truck overturned on the un- der-construction IJP Road and hit a rikshaw, killing 55-year-old rickshaw driver Sahib Khan on the spot.
