Call for provision of facilities at shelter home for women

Women demand dedicated building for Darul Aman in Haripur

HARIPUR:

Women belonging to political and social circles of district Haripur have called for collective efforts to ensure provision of maximum amenities and a dedicated building for Darul Aman in Haripur.

Darul Aman is an initiative of the Social Welfare Department, Government of Punjab, wherein the state has established shelter homes for women in all 36 districts of the province.

Till date, Darul Aman in Haripur does not have its own building and lacks a number of other basic facilities as well, which has raised public concern for destitute women who seek refuge at the sanctuary.

A team led by PML-N Women’s Wing Haripur President Shazia Jadoon paid a visit to the institution on Friday, where they met Darul Aman Haripur Director Malika Hijab. During the meeting, it was decided that the problems faced by the shelter home will be immediately taken up with the authorities concerned.
