Headless body found in Gujranwala

Incident baffles police since they are yet to solve an earlier murder mystery

GUJRANWALA:

After the incident in which a severed head was found in Gujranwala on July 14, now a body without a head has been found in the city as well.

The severed body was found on the roof of a car showroom off Sialkot Road.

The Civil Line Police had sent samples of the head and the body to the forensic lab in anticipation that the body might have been of the young man whose head had been found earlier.

The showroom employees immediately alerted the police after they had found a sack in which the body had been stuffed.

The sack emitting stench from the body had alerted the employees and the people of the area.

People initially suspected that stench might have been emitting from the waste parts of an animal thrown by someone irresponsibly in the midst of the area during the Eid days, but the reality turned out to be more unpleasant than what they had been suspecting.

SHO Mudasir Butt said that at first instance it seemed as if the body was of the same young man whose head had been found on July 14, but the forensic team who had examined the head and the body did not believe in the theory since there appeared to be a time lapse between the incidents of murder.

So far neither NADRA nor the forensic teams had had any success in the identification process.

NADRA could have identified the body if the body had had its fingers intact. Such is the state of the body’s decomposition.

Now only the DNA tests could say whether the head and the body are of the same person.
