KURRAM:

Officials of the district administration on Wednesday visited the affected area located on right bank of Pewar Khawar (nullah) in Pranga, Manz, Lundai , Dapa Kali and Sehra Kali Pewar in Upper Kurram to assess the scope of damages caused by high flooding in the nullah.

These villages have been affected by monsoon floods and high flood in the nullah could further damage precious agriculture land, village population, graveyards and government assets including drinking water supply schemes, schools and irrigation channels.

During the visit, it was observed that about 10 acres agriculture land of Sehra Kali has been eroded by monsoon floods.

The people of these areas were busy on self-help basis to protect their homes, agriculture land and other infrastructure from hazards of more expected floods, but they cannot afford to resolve this issue on permanent basis.

In order to resolve the issue of the people and protect the existing infrastructure of government and village population, total 1,600 feet protection wall at various reaches has been proposed to protect the above-mentioned villages and infrastructure.

These areas are directly threatened by floods, which need remedial measures on emergency basis, otherwise huge losses can be expected in upcoming floods.
