Security reviewed for Muharram

'Stern action will be taken against those violating ban on utilising loudspeakers, wall chalking, playing hate speech'

Commissioner Sukkur, Ghulam Mustafa Phull said that foolproof security arrangements are the top priority to ensure peace in the Holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram.

The Commissioner presided over a meeting at his office on Tuesday and directed all the head departments to finalise and submit their security plans to the Commissioner's office at the earliest.

"During the month of Muharram, all processions and Majalis will be strictly monitored so those anti-social elements could not succeed to harm peace, the atmosphere of interfaith harmony, brotherhood, tolerance, and tranquillity prevailing in the district,'' he said.

The Commissioner said that stern action will be taken against those found violating the ban on utilising loudspeakers, wall chalking, and playing hate speech CDs.

He said that control rooms will be set up at Taluka level while volition of routes and timing will not be tolerated at all.

Ghulam Mustafa further said that scholars have always played a vital role in the maintenance of peace in the country, especially in the Sukkur division.

He said no one will be allowed to violate the code of conduct. Deputy Commissioners, SSPs of Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki, Director Health, Rangers and officials of the law enforcement agencies were also present at the meeting.
