Weather turns pleasant, mercury drops
City's weather turned pleasant and a little cold as mercury dropped below 30 degrees Celsius after almost all day medium to heavy rains on Sunday.
The highest rainfall of of 104mm was recorded in Saddar followed by 86.5mm in Quaidabad. Urban flood like situation was witnessed in several areas of the city including Baldia, Hub River Road, Shershah, Nagin Chowrangi, Liaquatabad and PECHS.
As per Met Office forecast, the rains may continue till July 26 in the city.
On Sunday morning, the third monsoon spell, which entered the city through Rajistan, India, brought a heavy rainfall in the city.
Starting from the suburbs of the city, Gulshan Hadeed, Scheme 33, Gadap Town, Saadi Town, the series spread to the entire city, as a result city experienced heavy downpour in most ares.
PAF Base Masroor reveived 54.5mm rain, Keamari 54mm, Orangi Town 49.7mm, DHA Phase II 44.3mm, North Karachi 39mm, Korangi 36.4mm, Nazimabad 36mm, PAF Base Faisal 35.5mm, University Road near Met Office 30mm, Saddar, Saadi Town 33.7mm, Gadap Town 29.2mm, Gulshan-e-Maymaar 28.4mm, Old Airport 26.4mm and Jinnah Terminal recorded 27mm rainfall.
According to the Monsoon Rain Alert issued by the Early Warning Centere of the Meteorological Department, the third monsoon spell may cause rains in various districts of rural Sindh, including Karachi, will receive rains till July 26.
Also, Tharparkar, Umarkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thattha, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad, Matiari, Sanghar, Nawabshah, Khairpur, Sukkhur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Shikarpur, Qamber Shahdadkot, Ghotki and Kashmor may also experience medium to heavy rainfall with strong winds and thunder storm.
